Terms of use
Last updated 28 October 2026
These terms apply when you use Unizy (unizy.uk), run by Ammaar Hasan. By using Unizy you agree to them. Contact: [email protected].
What Unizy is
Unizy is an independent study aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any university. Module information is based on universities’ published course pages and may be out of date or differ from what your department teaches. Your university’s own materials, timetable and rules always take priority.
Tutor and marking
- Marks, bands and feedback from Unizy are practice guidance, not official marks. Real markers and criteria vary by module.
- The tutor can make mistakes. Check important points against your lectures, reading and official guidance, especially for law, medicine and anything clinical. Unizy is not medical, legal or financial advice.
- Each account has a daily tutor allowance, which we may change. We may pause tutor features if they are misused or if costs require it.
Free plan, trial and Unizy Pro
- Unizy is free to use. The free plan includes a small weekly tutor allowance (currently 10 tutor actions and 1 Assess marking a week, resetting each Monday).
- New accounts get a 7-day free trial of Unizy Pro. No card is needed, and nothing is charged when it ends; you simply move to the free plan.
- Unizy Pro is available monthly (£5.99 a month, renewing until you cancel), as a year pass (£39 for 12 months, no renewal) or as an exam pass (£12 for 6 weeks, no renewal). Prices include any VAT that applies. Buying another pass while one is active adds the time on.
- Pro includes a generous daily fair-use tutor allowance to prevent misuse. We’ll tell you before making changes that reduce what Pro includes.
- You can cancel the monthly plan at any time from your account; Pro then stays on until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- Refunds: if Pro isn’t right for you, email us within 14 days of your first payment for a plan and we’ll refund it in full. This doesn’t affect your legal rights.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
Friends and group chats
- You can add friends at your own university using their friend code, and chat in groups with them. Be kind: no harassment, hate, spam, or sharing other people’s personal information or exam material you’re not allowed to share.
- When someone tags the tutor in a group chat, recent messages in that chat are sent to our tutoring technology provider so it can reply, and the reply is visible to everyone in the group.
- You can share flashcard sets, quizzes, seminar-prep lists and copies of your notes into a group. Only share material you have the right to share. Your notes are private unless you choose to share a copy, and you can remove anything you’ve shared. Quiz scores and seminar-prep ticks you add to a shared item are visible to the group.
- We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules. You can report a problem to [email protected].
Module hubs, marketplace and focus rooms
- These are for students at your university only. To use them you must verify an email address issued by that university, and you must not verify someone else’s address or let others use your account.
- In study rooms, the people in the room can see and edit the shared notes, and see what you add to the card vault and reading split. Only share material you’re allowed to share, and don’t use rooms to work together on assessed coursework unless your module allows it.
- In module hubs, only share notes and material you’re allowed to share, credit other people’s work, and don’t post answers to assessed coursework or exam papers that aren’t public.
- The marketplace is a noticeboard between students. Unizy isn’t a party to any sale or sub-let, doesn’t handle payments and can’t guarantee items, people or rooms. Meet somewhere public, check items before you pay, and never pay a deposit or rent for a room you haven’t viewed. Sub-lets must be allowed by your tenancy.
- No weapons, alcohol, tobacco or vapes, drugs or medicines, counterfeit or stolen goods, exam papers or anything illegal. We may remove listings, posts or accounts that break these terms; posts reported by several students are hidden until reviewed.
Reviews
- Anyone with a confirmed Unizy account can leave one review per account. Reviews must be your own honest experience of Unizy.
- We don’t edit reviews, pay for them or hide them for being negative. We only remove reviews that contain abuse, hate, spam or links, other people’s personal information, or content that isn’t about Unizy.
- By posting a review you allow us to show it on Unizy and in our own marketing, with your first name.
Academic integrity
Use Unizy to learn and practise. Don’t submit work written or rewritten for you as your own if your university’s rules don’t allow it. You are responsible for following your university’s academic integrity policy.
Your account and content
- Keep access to your email secure, since sign-in links are sent there.
- You keep ownership of the notes and work you add. You give us permission to store and process it to run the service, including sending it to our tutoring technology provider when you use the tutor or marking.
- Only upload work and material you have the right to use.
Acceptable use
Don’t misuse Unizy. That includes trying to get around the usage limits, overloading or attacking the service, scraping it, using it to produce harmful or unlawful content, or sharing your account. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
Unizy’s content
Unizy’s notes, flashcards, questions and design are owned by Unizy. You can use them for your own study, but not copy or republish them in bulk.
Availability and liability
Unizy is provided “as is”, and we don’t guarantee it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses, or for results, grades or decisions based on Unizy. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. You can stop using Unizy and ask us to delete your account at any time.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
